Irvine, CA (April 24, 2006) - Olympic Bronze medalist Deena Kastor (Mammoth Lakes, CA) became the first American to win the Flora London Marathon on Sunday, cruising to a near two-minute victory. Her winning time of 2:19:36 established a new American Record, as she became only the eighth woman to run under 2:20 and the first American to break the elusive barrier.

Kastor and her flash red ASICS® DS-Racers® tore through the streets of London with unbelievable accuracy and steadiness to earn her second major marathon win in as many starts, running 1:09:48 for the first and second half. Her 10-k splits through the race were 33:09, 33:03, 32:56 and 33:04, a drastic departure from her ‘go out hard and hang on’ strategy she used to win the LaSalle Banks Chicago Marathon back in October. She becomes only the fourth woman to hold both the Chicago and London Marathon titles.

After returning to California for some rest and relaxation, Deena will be appearing on behalf of ASICS at Paragon Sports in Manhattan on Saturday, May 13th to meet her fans and sign autographs.
