ASICS has concentrated on a system that delivers load effectively, adapts to touchdown position by deforming in response to the load, stabilizes through the midfoot and improves take-off position.
This system is already in existence. It is called I.G.S.® or Impact Guidance System. I.G.S.® is not just one technology but numerous effective technologies grouped together to allow the foot to perform in a more natural manner.
At heel strike, the rearfoot I.G.S® deformation clefts and ASICS® GEL® Cushioning System respond immediately to the altered touchdown position of the female gait. Controlled deformation of the midsole compensates for the “knock-kneed” position of the female athlete, and works in unison with the ASICS® GEL® Cushioning System, which mimics the actions of human fatty tissue and helps to attenuate the increased contact phase forces of heel strike. Because I.G.S.® works in 3 planes simultaneously, the increased external rotation of the female foot compared to the male foot is also accommodated.
Also an important part of the I.G.S.®, the Trusstic System™ helps to stabilize the female foot at midstance, and prepare it for the power requirements of propulsion. This midfoot bridge technology has been further developed to offer female athletes support as estrogen levels change and arch ligaments become relaxed, flatter and less supportive. The Space Trusstic System™ features a depth of space between the midsole material and Trusstic to better react to the altered arch profile and provide more room for proper deformation. This provides the necessary support that female runners need, while maintaining flexibility through the midfoot. This will provide better performance, more comfort, a better fit, and a smoother ride.
P.H.F.® (Personal Heel Fit) is the first of a series of new "smart" foams that compress and expand to achieve "full contact" with the bony morphology it surrounds. P.H.F.® achieves seamless heel fit, and is effective in minimizing the issue of heel slippage and loss of stability in female athletes. P.H.F.® is probably one of the first technologies to truly allow individual customization of athletic footwear fit to the female runner’s specific needs.
Another addition to the series of "smart" foams, the ComforDry™ Sockliner creates a unique custom fit for women with every step. Made from a unique combination of materials, this foam is both breathable and very strong and offers an antimicrobial benefit of fighting against fungus, bacteria and odor creating a cooler, drier, healthier shoe environment.
ASICS Biomorphic Fit upper is the final upper piece that makes up the incredible fit story for women. By using a high-tech stretch material over the areas of high buckling, the Biomorphic Fit technology allows the upper to move in exactly the same way the foot does and reduces the effect of material bunching that can cause discomfort and blistering. Designed to complement and enhance the I.G.S® philosophy, Biomorphic Fit finally allows women to enjoy the feeling of a shoe that does not bunch, does not pinch and does not slip.
