Reflectivity: 3M (a registered trademark of 3M Company) reflective material enhances visibility during low light hours.
RhynoSkin®: ASICS® high abrasion resistant synthetic leather.
S
Sagittal Plane: The plane that divides the body or body segment into the right and left parts. To learn more, View The Sagittal Plane
SharkDuo™ Outsole: Material that provides increased traction on various track surfaces.
Single Support (SS): The period of time when only one foot is in contact with the ground. In walking, this is equal to the swing phase of the other limb.
Slip Lasted: The upper is wrapped and stitched directly down the middle before it is glued to the midsole, allowing for flexibility and lightweight.
Space Trusstic System™: An advanced system that creates a pocket between the Trusstic System® device and the midsole, allowing for greater midsole deformation and more efficient foot function.
SpEVA®: Proprietary midsole material that improves bounce back characteristics and decreases midsole breakdown.
SpEVA® 45: A last with density for a high cushioning feel.
SpEVA® 55: A last with density for cushioning and accommodates the foot in a stable footbed.
SpEVA® 65: A last with density that allows for a highly stable footbed.
SpEVA® Cushioning Component: Proprietary midsole material that helps improve cushioning and durability in the forefoot and/or rearfoot areas.
Stance Phase (ST): The period of time when the foot is in contact with the ground. To learn more, View The Stance Phase
Stance/Swing Ratio: The ratio of the stance period to the swing period.
Step Length: The distance from a point of contact with the ground of one foot to the following occurrence of the same point of contact with the other foot. The right step length is the distance from the left heel to the right heel when both feet are in contact with the ground.
Step Period: Is the period of time taken for one step and is measured from an event of one foot to the following occurrence of the same event with the other foot.
Stride Length: The distance from initial contact of one foot to the following initial contact of the same foot. Sometimes referred to as cycle length.
Stride Period or Cycle Time: The period of time from initial contact of one foot to the following initial contact of the same foot.
Supination: External rotation along the long axis of the foot (between the second and third metatarsal). A complex combination of adduction, inversion and plantarflexion. Supination may be regarded as a weightbearing “rolling out” of either the rearfoot or midfoot, or both.
Swing Phase (SW): The period of time when the foot is not in contact with the ground. In those cases where the foot never leaves the ground (foot drag), it can be defined as the phase when all portions of the foot are in forward motion. To learn more, View The Swing Phase |
