Kastor Earns Place On 2008 Olympic Team

Wanting to erase the disappointment from her second place finish at the 2004 Olympic Trials, Deena Kastor stepped to the starting line this morning not only wanting to qualify for her third Olympic Games but also to win today's Women's Marathon Olympic Trials held in Boston, MA.

From the start, however, Kastor was in chase mode as she lead a group of runners that was 2 minutes behind the leader, Magdalena Lewy Boulet. Boulet led from the start until Kastor made her move on the final loop. She slowly reeled in the leader and erased her 2 minute advantage over the last 9km of the race. Kastor took the lead with 5km left and went on to win the race crossing the finish line in 2:29.35. This is will be Kastor's third Olympic Team (Sydney 10,000m; Athens Marathon).
