The last day of the 2014 ASICS World Series of Beach Volleyball ended on a massive high note, with ASICS elite Beach Volleyball player, Kerri Walsh Jennings defeating team Brasil in the Finals, earning herself the gold medal and the number 1 spot on the podium. She was hungry for this victory, and she and partner April Ross dominated the court with surgical precision throughout the match. Outside of the stadium court, the Kerri Cannon continued to blast volleyballs at brave participants - with some getting a face full of (hilarious) humiliation for their bravery; and the dozens of vendor booths continued to pump out games, tunes, and fun at any given moment. A big congratulations to Kerri for her victory, and for inspiring all of us watching her from the stands, or the comfort of our couch, what it truly means to Better Your Best.
This unprecedented event is bringing the world’s greatest beach volleyball players and their fans together in a way that’s never been seen in the world of professional sports. Sanctioned by FIVB, the sport’s international governing body, the ASICS World Series of Beach Volleyball is much more than a volleyball tournament; it’s a week-long festival celebrating “all things beach,” including sports, music, culture and community.
With NBC Sports broadcasting the action, the top players from all over the world will compete on American soil for the first time in a decade for $500,000 in prize money. Fans will have the opportunity as well to compete in several amateur tournaments throughout the week. And the action on the sand doesn’t end there. Performances by live bands throughout the week will complement the volleyball to delight and entertain all in attendance.
Saturday at the 2014 ASICS WSOBV was overflowing with energy. The beach was absolutely packed with players and spectators alike - and the music, fun, and intense beach volleyball action never stopped for a second. The big matches at the stadium court were even more explosive, especially our own Kerri Walsh Jennings' domination of both the Quarter Finals and the Semi Finals, where she defeated teams from the Netherlands and Slovakia to the roar of her adoring fans. On Sunday she's headed to the Finals, with the hopes of taking home the gold and adding another massive victory to her ever-growing list.
Friday at the 2014 ASICS World Series of Beach Volleyball was jam-packed with action! The outer courts were filled with teams from around the world giving it everything they had throughout the entire day, while the ASICS booth and the Kerri Cannon were overflowing with fans trying on new gear and seeing what it's really like to take a spike at the speed and power of Kerri Walsh Jennings. And speaking of Kerri, the day wrapped up nicely for her when she and partner April Ross emerged victorious from an intense tie breaker with the equally intense team from Germany. On Saturday she moves onto the quarter finals, so make sure and keep it locked on ASICSAmerica.com for all the latest WSOBV news!
